The Body Shop are one of my most-requested brands for an overview video, and with good reason. That’s coming, but in the meantime, here’s some newness to feast your eyes on.
WHAT: Roots of StrengthTM is the latest collection from The Body Shop and draws strongly, as you would expect, from both their botanical heritage, and their community trade partners. Formulated around these key ingredients: Madagascan ginger root, Chinese ginseng root, European ruscus root and Community Trade soya oil from Brazil, this three part range is aimed at the over 35s, although I’m sure you will find it beneficial if your skin was particularly dull and/or inclined to be on the dry side.
WHY: As we get older our skin loses its natural ability to retain moisture, which can leave it looking dull, lacking in form and dehydrated. Skin is left feeling plumped, firmer and denser.
HOW: The current three step routine includes Firming Shaping Essence Lotion, Firming Shaping Serum and Firming Shaping Day Cream. The Firming Shaping Essence Lotion is designed to be the first step of your hydration layering, and would be used in my routine after cleansing. It’s an extremely light hybrid between a lightweight lotion and a gel, and applies nicely with fingertips all over the face. The Firming Shaping Serum leaves your skin feeling smoother and refined, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, smoothing the skin, leaving it firmer to the touch. It works well under your regular moisturiser, but when followed with the Firming Shaping Day Cream, leaves the skin soft to the touch, comfortable and moisturised without grease.
PLAYS WELL WITH: The best part about The Body Shop’s offering is that there is something for everyone. My long-time favourites, the Camomile Cleansing Range, can all be used before Roots of StrengthTM to prep the skin. I am always asked, always, about micellar waters, and my answer is always the same. I don’t use them. I do however, use Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover all over my face if I want everything off in a hurry. Works a treat, affordable and I find it much gentler on my skin than traditional micellar waters. The Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter needs no introduction to regular readers of this blog and more info on that can be found here: www.carolinehirons.com/what-to-buy-body-shop
WHAT ELSE YOU NEED TO KNOW: Roots of StrengthTM is 100% vegan and is obviously cruelty-free. Dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin.
