Shiva Rose - Rose Facial Oil

Shiva Rose - Rose Facial Oil

Describe the brand in three words. Hippy. 'Clean'. 'Vibrations'. Who is it for? Any skin except those with known problems with essential oil, although I would lean toward maturer skins and dry skin. What’s in it? Organic Simmondsia chinensis ( Jojoba ) Oil, Organic Rosa canina (Rosehip Seed)Oil, Aleurites moluccans (Kukui Nut) Oil, Organic Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Organic Camelina sativa (Camelina) Oil, Hippophae rhamnoides (Seed Buckthorn) Oil, Organic Rosa Damascena (Persian Rose) Essential Oil, Non-GMO Alpha-Tocopherol (Vitamin E) Oil What's not in it? 'Nasties'. See below.. Possibly acne/allergy/troubling for some ingredients? rose essential oil, but any traditional problematic ingredients have been left out Suitable for pregnancy? Yes Natural? Organic? Man made? Vegan? Organic/natural etc Tested on animals in home country/EU/sold in territories that require testing? Cruelty free. How does it smell? Like rose, obviously, but extremely light, nice roses, not stuffy roses. How do you use it? Apply a couple of drops to skin and massage in. I use under moisturiser or after masks and sleep in it. Can it be taken around the eyes? Panda eyes. Best for winter or summer? Either, but most skins will benefit from an oil in winter. How long did I test it for? I bought it at the end of January - so 7 months. How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage? $105 for 30ml. Works well with? Any moisturiser is fine with this, and it's good over serums. What’s the website like? It's nice enough, it lists full ingredients and goes into detail about each one, but it is so 'L.A.' that if you're the average beauty consumer (and person) your eyes will roll up through your forehead on numerous occasions. It's hippy-dippy to the extreme, and as much as Shiva seems a lovely person, it's hard to take it seriously after the first couple of products. There are so many examples that I will leave it for you to find out for yourself: shivarose.com How was it delivered? Intact/excess packaging etc When I bought the first few items in The Detox Market in LA, they were out of stock of quite a few things, this being one of them, so I ordered them when I got back to London. They arrived in a small box with a little pink tissue and no further information on the brand or 'padding' that you would expect when spending hundreds of dollars. This particular product had leaked a little. It didn't travel well. How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited? Very limited and the products are made in small batches. Retailers are listed here: Stockists but it's not up to date because it doesn't list The Detox Market which is where I found the brand. What’s good about it? The Product: This is a perfectly lovely oil. It hydrates and nourishes and is certainly not heavy, cloying or sticky. It absorbs well and plays well with others. The scent is genuine and very subtle and the oil obviously gives good glow and I do think contributes to a plumper epidermis, but you would expect that of most, if not all, oils. I preferred the eye cream, which I genuinely loved using. Brand: This is obviously a very niche, 'green' brand that undoubtedly does well among that Californian demographic of the money/non-toxic brigade. It is certainly 'green and clean' although that is not my choice of words. See below. What’s not so good about it? The product: It's extortionately expensive, even allowing for the cost of superior quality organic ingredients. The base oil is jojoba, you can't get much cheaper than that. If you're asking your customer to part with $105.00, I would expect more of a description than 'This hand blended product is toxin free and made with organic oils that reduce inflammation and open the heart chakra.'. Brand: Outside of the cost of the product, Shiva seems genuinely lovely and I am sure has only the best intentions, but this website makes goop look like CNN. The focus on being non-toxic and 'clean', while very LA, tips over into this: 'Formulated in a high vibrational environment with love and blessings.' Now I'm all for good energy, and May Lindstrom steers just this side of the edge for me, but this is just too much. Maybe I'm just hyper-cynical after what we've been through recently with modern medicine and science, but when you post things like 'A natural preservative, Vitamin E can help prevent cancer' my brows are more than a little raised. Would I repurchase? No. Do you need it? No. Neal's Yard Rehydrating Rose Facial Oil is great and a quarter of the price. Similar products?
