What kind of eye concern does it claim to help?
dark circles, puffiness, fine lines
What’s in it?
Water, PEG-8 Beeswax, Caprylyl Caprylate/Caprate, C10-18 Triglycerides, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Phenyl Trimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Polypropylsilsesquioxane, Polyglyceryl-6 Distearate, Glycerin, Jojoba Esters, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Polysilicone-11, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Fructose, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Extract, Methylpropanediol, Acmella Oleracea Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Caffeine, Citrullus Vulgaris (Watermelon) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Lens Esculenta (Lentil) Fruit Extract, Sodium PCA, Sodium Lactate, Butylene Glycol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ptychopetalum Olacoides Bark/Stem Extract, Pfaffia Paniculata (Brazilian Ginseng) Root Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Glycolic Acid, Alcohol (from plant extracts), Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Silica, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Sodium Phytate, Carthamus Tinctorius Seed Oil, Tagetes Erecta (Marigold) Flower Extract, Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Oil
What's not in it?
Sunday Riley, rather joyfully, make no ‘free from’ claims.
How does it smell?
It certainly has its own ‘scent’, but to my knowledge it’s unfragranced.
Suitable for pregnancy/breastfeeding?
Yes.
Natural? Organic? Man-made? Vegan?
Man-made with natural elements. Again, a welcome relief from the song and dance that is ‘clean’.
Sustainability? (Micro plastics/fair trade/eco-conscious)
It’s glass so can be recycled. The lid and pump top are plastic.
Tested on animals in home country/EU/sold in territories that require testing?
No.
How do you use it?
Apply half a pump to orbital bone am and pm. Quick note: the brand say to apply between 2-3 pumps on the packaging. Honestly that’s enough to do your eyes for a week.
Where does it sit in your routine?
After cleansing/acid before everything else. I don’t know who started this trend on YouTube tutorials of applying eye cream last, but I wish it would stop. Like I said years ago on here, applying your eye cream last is like wearing your bra over your coat.
How long did I test it for?
I’m about to start my third bottle. Months.
Will you ‘see’ results, or does it work behind the scenes?
Both. It has some mild ‘shimmer’, but that weirdly disappears after application, so I wouldn’t say it was cosmetic level of added glow. The caffeine, ginseng, horse chestnut, lutein and acmella oleracea all work on their different areas while you’re wearing it namely: puffiness, brightening, hydration and smoothing.
How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage?
£60.00/$65.00 for 15ml. Although it genuinely seems to last longer than a 15ml. Maybe because I’m quite tight with the amount applied..
What’s good about it?
I love this eye cream. Possibly my favourite discovery this year. I am genuinely about to start my third bottle, having used it since before the summer. It’s definitely good for improving puffiness, and for that reason I have no worries taking it over my brow area/top of my lids. The 'brightening' effect is definitely helped by the synthetic mica element but it is genuinely not something that hangs around and honestly, I'm glad of it. It definitely makes me look more awake than I am, and fakes it until the other ingredients kick in and have the tightening effect. If you're 20 you won't need all of this. If you are my age, maybe check it out.
What’s not so good about it?
Nothing I can think of. A bigger bottle would be handy.
Would I purchase/repurchase?
Absolutely.
Do you need it?
If your concern is dullness, puffiness and dark under eyes, you should definitely investigate it, yes. The effect on the pufiness alone is worth your time and cash.
Do you need this if you are young? (I.e. preventative)
An eye cream, yes, an expensive one designed to make your eyes brighter, probably not.
