OK this is not so much a 'myth', as it is just a.. I don't know who started it. I don't care. It needs to end. And end now.
Glitter is a pain in the arse, this we know. It can be nice in an eyeshadow, when applied well.
If you're a teen, knock yourself out. Now is the time to swim in glitter if you want to. If you're in your 20s and enjoy a glittery face, again, knock yourself out. It's a legal requirement at festivals. I get it.
If, however, you are the rest of us, STOP. JUST MAKE IT STOP.
I mean, I don't know how much any of this needs saying, but there is ABSOLUTELY ZERO BENEFIT TO PUTTING GLITTER IN SKINCARE. If you have less than perfect skin, please stay away. It's also bad for the environment, and will potentially lead to the next microbead situation (we can only hope). If you want to take a fun selfie for social media, wearing a glitter mask, that's your call. But DON'T OK DON'T JUST DO NOT.
And please, I beg you, don't tag us in glitter pictures on social media. I know it exists, I know it's out there, I know some of you think it's fun, but the skincare community are stroking out with despair at every new launch. And if you are a 'skincare' brand making money selling frigging glitter? Go sit in a darkened room and think long and hard about your actions.
