Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm

Describe the brand in five words.

Farm. Echinacea. Upstate New York. (That's literally all I know, sorry!)

What type of cleanser is it?

A delicious oily-balm, except not too oily. Stay with me.

Who is it for?

Most skins should be ok with this, maybe not overly-sensitive ones.

What’s in it?

Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Peg-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Peg-10 Isostearate, Polyethylene, Phenoxyethanol, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Amino Esters-1, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Amber Powder, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Water/ Aqua/ Eau, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Echinacea Purpurea Root Extract, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Moringa Pterygosperma Seed Extract, Disodium Phosphate, Citric Acid

What's not in it?

'Parabens, formaldehyde and artificial coloring' - although why you would put formaldehyde in a cleanser I don't know. That seems a little out of place.

Possibly acne/allergy/troubling for some ingredients?

Essential oils

Suitable for pregnancy?

Yes

Natural? Organic? Man made? Vegan?

Natural

Tested on animals in home country/EU/sold in territories that advocate testing?

No/No

How does it smell?

Fresh, fairly sweet. Like Starburst.

How do you use it?

Like any balm. I wouldn't attempt to remove this without a cloth, I can't see it coming off easily. You'll have residue.

First cleanse/second cleanse or AM cleanse?

All of the above.

Best for winter or summer?

Either.

Does it remove waterproof eye makeup?

Haven't tried, but I would expect it to.

How long did I test it for?

A few months.

How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage?

$34.00/£32.00

What’s the website like?

Nice. Good info, lists full ingredients. Farmacybeauty.com

How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited?

Sephora US/Cult Beauty UK

What’s good about it?

It has good slip and grip, smells a treat and does remove all makeup. I use it in the mornings if my skin is a little dry and it leaves it soft and hydrated. It's a pleasure to use. The balm immediately turns into oil upon contact.

What’s not so good about it?

Honestly it's just the name. 'Green Clean' is not really 'green', except in colour. And the much-mentioned echinacea ingredient is so far down the inci list that it can't possibly be very effective. However, in their defence, it's a cleanser, and you're not going to fill it full of expensive anti-ageing ingredients. If you don't rinse this properly you'll have residue and potentially break out.

Would I purchase/repurchase?

Probably. It's $34 in the US, and I bought it when I was in Sephora a few months ago, purely because I am frequently asked about it and it's a balm, which we all know I have issues with ;) I will absolutely use it up.

Do you need it?

Depends on your skin and your needs. If you have dry/dehydrated skin, and don't have an issue with essential oils, you'll probably love it.
