Describe the brand in three words.
Green. Seattle. Vegan.
Who is it for?
Combination, reddened skin or skins that appreciate a light oil. This absorbs fairly quickly and is not a typical 'oily' oil. If you're primarily worried about pores, or have rosacea, also worth checking out.
What’s in it?
Amaranthus Squalane Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Capric Triglycerides (Fractionated Coconut Oil), Aleurites Moluccana (Kukui) Nut Oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Tanacetum annuum (Blue Tansy) Leaf Oil, Jasminum Sambac (Jasmine) Absolute, Rosa Damascena (Moroccan Rose) Absolute
What's not in it?
Synthetic ingredients, parabens, sodium laurel sulfate, phthalates, chemicals, fillers, animal testing, mineral oils, petroleum
Possibly acne/allergy/troubling for some ingredients?
Nut oils
Suitable for pregnancy?
Yes
Natural? Organic? Man made? Vegan?
Natural and vegan
Tested on animals in home country/EU/sold in territories that require testing?
PETA, bunny approved etc - cruelty free and vegan
How does it smell?
Like Blue Cocoon, and if you're not a skincare freak, it smells of blue tansy oil. Basically, bliss.
How do you use it?
Apply to clean skin after cleansing and acids (if applicable). Can be used on its own as moisturiser for oily skins, whilst also being a light oil suitable for drier/dehydrated skins that want an extra layer as well as a traditional 'cream'.
Can it be taken around the eyes?
Yes
Best for winter or summer?
Either for oily, summer for dry/dehydrated.
How long did I test it for?
I bought it earlier this year in LA., can't remember if it was Sephora or Urban Outfitters.
How much is it? /Size/Approximate cost per usage?
$72.00 for 50ml/unsure in the UK as the stockists listed are completely random and none of them have it in stock. (If you're reading this Herbivore, please contact me and let me sort out your distribution!)
Works well with?
Acids (after), moisturisers (before)
What’s the website like?
Good. Lists ingredients, nice photography and detailed info on products.
How’s the distribution? Available freely or limited?
Sephora and Urban Outfitters (and others) in the US, random in the UK. Use this tool to find out if there is a stockist near you.
What’s good about it?
Well the smell for starters, although it shouldn't be important, it's the reason I bought it when I already have 4270 oils. It's obviously not as intense as Blue Cocoon, but it's still enough to make you go 'OHLORDINEEDTHISINMYLIFE.' It's a lovely, light oil, that gives just enough moisture without feeling heavy or clogging. If you're red, acneic or oily, you might find its soothing properties really beneficial and it won't make you feel like you're 'wearing' an oil.
What’s not so good about it?
Nothing really. In oil terms, it's good. There is possibly an argument for it being in darker glass, but if you use it every day you'll get through it well before it goes rancid.
Would I repurchase?
Possibly, if my skin was oilier, and mainly for the summer or traveling, because it's a nice non-sticky oil that doesn't clog my pores.
Do you need it?
If you have an oily/combination skin and have previously avoided oils, yes, I would suggest checking this one out. If you have 73 facial oils already and are not particularly oily, no.
