The products included in The Sensitive Face Box were hand-picked by our founder, Caroline Hirons. Read on to find out why she chose sensitive skin as a theme and how she selected the products.

Why did you choose Sensitive Skin as a theme?

I knew we wanted to release a Box during winter - being based in the UK the most common skin-related complaints I hear at this time of year are about skin that feels sensitive or sore. You have cold weather outdoors and are likely to be dealing with indoor heating, whether you’re at home or in an office — all of these things lead to a more sensitised skin.

That said, skin can feel sensitive or sore no matter where you are in the world or what season you are in. The products included in The Sensitive Face Box are gentle enough to use whether you’re in currently sunny Australia, or have eczema or rosacea.

Why did you choose these products?

I wanted products that anyone could use, no matter what is causing their sensitivity.

Elemis, Pro-Collagen, Naked Cleansing Balm - The Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is one of my favourite cleansers and a fan-favourite. Although I have (luckily) rarely had issues with fragrance, I wanted to ensure that everything in The Sensitive Face Box was fragrance-free.

Pai, Instant Kalmer - When you want an immediate soothing feeling, the Instant Kalmer serum is ideal. It also works to reduce visible redness over time, giving you both the instant gratification, as well as helping skin with continuous use.

OSKIA, Rest Day Barrier Balm - The word that comes to mind when I think about sensitive skin is “barrier”. Whether that’s a damaged barrier from a product or treatment (no, you don’t need to use four different acids daily), as a result of your environment, or due to a skin condition, it is all about your barrier. Oskia’s brilliant Barrier Balm works hard to soothe irritated skin and helps protect and repair your barrier, making it a perfect choice for our Sensitive Face Box.

Summer Fridays, Butter Balm - Dry, chapped lips often accompany a generally sore or sensitive face so I wanted to ensure a product to address this was included in the Box. This balm is hydrating and soothing without leaving lips feeling sticky.

What’s your advice for dealing with sensitive skin?

Firstly, if your skin is sensitive due to a medical condition such as rosacea or eczema, or you suspect this may be the case, I would always advise you to speak with your doctor or dermatologist.

If your skin is sensitive because you’ve gone too hard with actives, or because of your environment, my advice is to put down the actives and focus on healing. Step away from the acid.

Using fragrance-free products that hydrate and soothe will work wonders.
