About the product

Our intermediate level serum has all the greatness of Retinoid 1, but with an active level of 0.5% hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR) and 0.05% retinal added. This has been developed for those accustomed to using vitamin A products who want to level up their routine, to maintain an even, radiant complexion.

Key ingredients

Retinal – A fast-acting, powerful retinoid that targets fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts, skin texture and hyperpigmentation.

Hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR)
– A gentle yet effective retinoid that works in harmony with retinal to give you better results.

Bakuchiol and soybean extract – Retinoid boosters that help to bolster results whilst soothing and protecting the skin.

Squalane and vitamin E – Conditioning agents that support the skin barrier whilst soothing and nourishing the skin.

All ingredients

Aqua (Water, Eau), Dimethyl Isosorbide, Isononyl Isononanoate, Diisopropyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Glycerin, Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Bakuchiol, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Extract, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Benzyl Alcohol, Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate, Retinal, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Seed Oil, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Oil, Astrocaryum Murumuru Seed Butter, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Glyceryl Stearate, Polysilicone-11, Bidens Pilosa Extract, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Withania Somnifera Root Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Hordeum Vulgare Extract (Extrait d'orge), Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Seed Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Polyisobutene, Bisabolol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Phytosterols, Citric Acid, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, PEG-7 Trimethylolpropane Coconut Ether, Sorbitan Isostearate, Phospholipids, Phenethyl Alcohol.

How it works

Encourages the skin to renew itself and helps promote collagen and elastin production, whilst simultaneously conditioning to reveal a smooth, even complexion.

How to use

Use in the PM, after cleansing. Apply a few pumps of the serum across your face and lightly massage into the skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow to absorb and follow with your moisturiser, if preferred. Use sun protection during the day.

For Retinoid 2, we would recommend using twice weekly until you are acclimatised. You can then increase your usage to up to 3 times per week if desired.

If you are currently using an acid product (e.g. AHA, BHA toner), we would recommend you use this and the retinoid on alternate days.

  • "The best on the market!

I started using retinoid 2 after using retinoid 1 for some time. My skin responded almost instantly by smoothing out fine lines on my forehead in particular. And my skin tone appears more even. It’s gentle and sinks in beautifully."

  • "I have had so many compliments over the last week about my skin!

Beautiful product that feels nourishing and hydrating. No irritation at all!"

  • "Amazing! Now my go-to retinoid.

Non irritating, and leaves a glow after the first use. I use it 3x per week and for me that is plenty. I don't feel the need to apply moisturiser afterwards, and I just know that after long-term use my skin will be rejuvenated!"

FAQs

What ACTIVE % of retinoid is in Retinoid 1/Retinoid 2?

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 contains 0.2% hydroxypinacolone retinoate. Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 contains 0.5% hydroxypinacolone retinoate & 0.05% retinal, meaning that the product contains a total of 0.55% active retinoid.

Which Skin Rocks Retinoid is stronger? How are the Skin Rocks Retinoids different to each other?

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 & 2 differ due to the ACTIVE vitamin A system used. Retinoid 1 contains hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR), whereas Retinoid 2 contains HPR & retinal. Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 is currently the strongest variant we offer.

Which Skin Rocks Retinoid should I buy?

The Skin Rocks Retinoids have been developed as a series – you choose the most appropriate depending on your previous exposure to vitamin A products.

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 has been formulated for beginners, or those with concerns around sensitivity: those who have not used retinoids previously/have used low-strength retinoids irregularly in the past.

Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 has been formulated for intermediate users: those who have regularly used mid/high strength retinoids in the past, with no issues with sensitivity. If a user has been using high strength retinoids/actives previously, Retinoid 2 is sufficient for maintaining results. Retinoid 1 is suitable for those with sensitive skin, while Retinoid 2 is not. You should not use a retinoid if you have experienced previous vitamin A irritation. You should always patch test before using a new product.

How do I know when to move on to a higher strength Retinoid?

Please wait at least 4 weeks for your skin to acclimatise to any product. We recommend using our retinoid products for at least 12 weeks before moving onto a higher strength.
