Retinoid 1, our beginner-strength serum, is clinically proven to be suitable for sensitive skin*. Containing hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR), a next-generation, gentle yet effective retinoid, alongside skin-conditioning heroes, this formula packs the punch of a retinoid serum while minimising irritation.

Working perfectly alongside a retinoid, The Support Oil helps to support a healthy skin barrier and instantly calm your complexion. Formulated with a blend of nourishing ingredients, this treatment oil helps to soothe and calm the skin.

0.2% Hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR) – A gentle yet effective retinoid that targets fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts, skin texture and hyperpigmentation.

Bakuchiol and soybean extract – Retinoid boosters that help to bolster results whilst soothing and protecting the skin.

Squalane and vitamin E – Conditioning agents that support the skin barrier whilst soothing and nourishing the skin.

The Support Oil

100% plant-derived pure olive squalane – Mimics the skin’s natural oils; conditioning the skin, supporting barrier function and maximising water retention.

Phytosterols, jojoba oil and macadamia seed oil esters – A botanically-sourced oil blend that supports skin barrier function by mimicking the lipid profile of a young adult, helping to improve skin firmness, elasticity and hydration.

Sunflower seed oil – Soothes the skin and strengthens the skin barrier by replenishing the skin’s natural lipids, reducing visible signs of dryness.

How it works

Retinoid 1 encourages the skin to renew itself and helps promote collagen and elastin production, whilst simultaneously conditioning to reveal a smooth, even complexion.

The Support Oil cocoons the skin in nourishing, calming botanicals and actives to help reinforce the skin barrier and retain moisture.

How to use

STEP 1
Retinoid 1
Use in the PM, after cleansing. Apply a few pumps of the serum across your face and lightly massage into the skin. Allow to absorb and follow with your moisturiser, if preferred. Always use sun protection during the day.

Use twice a week initially, building up to 3-4 times per week, depending on your skin’s need. If you are currently using an acid product (e.g. AHA or BHA toner), we would recommend you use this and the retinoid on alternate days.

STEP 2
The Support Oil
Use in the AM and/or PM before your moisturiser. Apply 1 pump of oil into palms and massage onto the face, neck and décolleté. Repeat if necessary.

Alternatively, if you have particularly sensitive skin and/or are nervous about retinoid usage, you can apply The Support Oil before Retinoid 1 to act as a buffer, slowing down penetration of the retinoid.

FAQs

Does The Vitamin A Beginner Set contain fragrance?

As with all products in our TREATMENT category, both products in this set are fragrance free.

How do I know when to move onto a higher-strength retinoid?

Please wait at least 4 weeks for your skin to acclimatise to any product. We recommend using our retinoid products for at least 12 weeks before moving on to a higher strength.

Can I use The Vitamin A Beginner Set with other active ingredients/treatments?

We would recommend you avoid using other actives in the same routine as Retinoid 1. The Support Oil is perfect for use between active treatments or beforehand to act as a buffer.
We recommend allowing sufficient time for the product to fully absorb before applying your next product.

You can use other actives on alternate days to your retinoid, but please be sure to incorporate days where your routine focuses solely on hydration.

Can I use The Vitamin A Beginner Set daily?

The Support Oil can be used every day, morning and night. However, Retinoid 1 should only be used up to 3-4 times a week.

Is The Vitamin A Beginner Set recyclable?

Retinoid 1:
The pumps for our Retinoid products are not currently recyclable unless dismantled. We encourage you to keep your pump and glass bottle and purchase a refill instead. Once you have finished and would like to recycle your product, rinse and dry out all componentry and please check materials against local requirements.
