At Skin Rocks, we believe that everything we do has an impact.
From how we treat our team to how we package our products, it matters.
Beauty Businesses Rock
Beauty is not only skin deep. It is a backbone to our global markets. As a UK-based business, we defend our sector that contributes over £28billion to the economy, with 82% of business owners being women.
Skin Rocks is women-founded and led, whilst continuing to hire inclusively, and without barriers. Our team is integral to the running and success of Skin Rocks, and we are committed to wellbeing and continued growth. Currently, we provide a range of development courses, as well as business and wellbeing workshops. Financially, we aim to offer salaries above the national living wage, to match the rising cost of living.
Earth Rocks
Skin Rocks is, and will always remain, cruelty free. We do not test products or ingredients on animals, nor do we ask any third parties to do so on our behalf. Skin Rocks products are developed to fully comply with relevant cosmetic legislation, including the EU Cosmetic Regulation (Ec. No. 1223/2009), and the equivalent UK law (Schedule 34, The Product Safety and Metrology etc. (Amendment etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019)), both of which have made cosmetic animal testing illegal. It is also our company policy not to sell Skin Rocks cosmetic products in any countries that require animal testing in order to enter the market.
95% of cosmetic packaging is thrown away. Our Skin Rocks packaging is, where possible, readily recyclable at home. Where this is not possible (e.g. pumps), we will aim to provide a refillable solution. Additionally, all our boxes and cartons are from an FSC-certified source, with a vegetable-based ink print. We hope to encourage and educate our community on better waste practices, while helping to sustain a circular economy. Recycling information will be available for all of our products online, but please do check against your local recycling requirements before disposing.
We work with RePurpose Global who remove an equal amount of plastic used in all of our products from nature. They collect ocean-bound plastic and recover it, whilst creating jobs for underprivileged waste workers. Read more here.
We recognise carbon footprint is important to reducing and reusing methods and are continually exploring meaningful partnerships to offset this.
To the best of our ability, we work to ensure our supply chain meets industry best practices, without compromising on formulation and product performance.
Community Rocks
Our customers are at the core of everything we do, which is why we have invested in making skincare make sense and creating products where formula comes first.
Whether it’s the Skin Rocks app or our skincare, it’s all about empowering people to look after their skin.
Beyond our customers, we also actively engage with the third sector. Historically, we have partnered with The Beauty Backed Trust and are exploring further charity initiatives.
An Ambassador and Advisory Board Member of the British Beauty Council, Ambassador for The Eve Appeal, Patron of the Princes Trust, and Founder of Beauty Backed Trust, our Founder Caroline Hirons uses her profile and business acumen to help support women both in and outside of her industry. Since 2020, Caroline fundraising and direct donations have raised more than £1million for charity.
