About the product

Our entry level serum is your first port of call if you are just beginning your vitamin A journey and/or you are prone to sensitivity. At an active level of 0.2% hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR), fine lines, dark marks and breakouts will appear visibly reduced.

Enriched with retinoid boosters such as bakuchiol and soybean extract, as well as moisturising supplementary actives – squalane and vitamin E – your skin will feel nourished, while it renews itself.

Key ingredients

Hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR) – A gentle yet effective retinoid that targets fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts, skin texture and hyperpigmentation.

Bakuchiol and soybean extract – Retinoid boosters that help to bolster results whilst soothing and protecting the skin.

Squalane and vitamin E – Conditioning agents that support the skin barrier whilst soothing and nourishing the skin.

How it works

Encourages the skin to renew itself and helps promote collagen and elastin production, whilst simultaneously conditioning to reveal a smooth, even complexion.

How to use

Use in the PM, after cleansing. Apply a few pumps of the serum across your face and lightly massage into the skin. Allow to absorb and follow with your moisturiser, if preferred. Use sun protection during the day.

For Retinoid 1, initially we would recommend you use it twice a week, building up to 3-4 times per week depending on your skin’s need.

If you are currently using an acid product (e.g. AHA, BHA toner), we would recommend you use this and the retinoid on alternate days.

PM Retinoid routine example: Cleanse, Tone (hydrating toners/mists only), Retinoid 1 or 2 Treatment, Eye Cream, Moisturise (if needed).

  • "Softer & smooth skin!

My first experience with retinoid and so glad it’s with Skin Rocks! This has made my skin soft and smooth and is helping with my hyperpigmentation."

  • "BEST RETINOID!

I have combination oily/sensitive skin that has always been easily irritated by retinoid products. The Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 is gentle and has made my skin GLOW. I can see a visible difference in my skin the morning after I use this product. Since I started using Retinoid 1 in January, I wear less make-up and get compliments on my complexion."

  • "This is an incredible product.

Having previously tried retinoid, my sensitive skin just wasn't having it. Initially this caused a little dryness but that period passed really quickly and the result? My skin is smooth like glass! Feeling brave enough to try retinoid 2 when this is finished because if the milder one has results like this then I can't wait to see what the stronger one can achieve!"

FAQs

What ACTIVE % of retinoid is in Retinoid 1/Retinoid 2?

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 contains 0.2% hydroxypinacolone retinoate. Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 contains 0.5% hydroxypinacolone retinoate & 0.05% retinal, meaning that the product contains a total of 0.55% active retinoid.

Which Skin Rocks Retinoid is stronger? How are the Skin Rocks Retinoids different to each other?

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 & 2 differ due to the ACTIVE vitamin A system used. Retinoid 1 contains hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HPR), whereas Retinoid 2 contains HPR & retinal. Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 is currently the strongest variant we offer.

Which Skin Rocks Retinoid should I buy?

The Skin Rocks Retinoids have been developed as a series – you choose the most appropriate depending on your previous exposure to vitamin A products.

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 has been formulated for beginners, or those with concerns around sensitivity: those who have not used retinoids previously/have used low-strength retinoids irregularly in the past.

Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 has been formulated for intermediate users: those who have regularly used mid/high strength retinoids in the past, with no issues with sensitivity. If a user has been using high strength retinoids/actives previously, Retinoid 2 is sufficient for maintaining results. Retinoid 1 is suitable for those with sensitive skin, while Retinoid 2 is not. You should not use a retinoid if you have experienced previous vitamin A irritation. You should always patch test before using a new product.

How do I know when to move on to a higher strength Retinoid?

Please wait at least 4 weeks for your skin to acclimatise to any product. We recommend using our retinoid products for at least 12 weeks before moving onto a higher strength.
