About the product

Our advanced-level serum is our most powerful retinoid yet, formulated specifically for experienced vitamin A users. At an active level of 0.21% retinal and 0.5% Adapinoid®, fine lines, wrinkles, dark marks and breakouts will appear significantly reduced.

Key ingredients

Retinal – A fast-acting, powerful retinoid that targets fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts, skin texture and hyperpigmentation.

Adapinoid® – Transforming to adapalene – a highly effective third generation retinoid for blemish-prone skin – once on the skin, this ingredient helps to reduce the appearance of breakouts while targeting signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Bakuchiyl Salicylate – Breaking down to both bakuchiol and salicylic acid once on the skin, this compound helps to boost the efficacy of retinoids while decongesting the skin.

Soybean Extract – A retinoid booster that helps to bolster results while soothing and protecting the skin.

Squalane and Vitamin E – Conditioning agents that support the skin barrier while soothing and nourishing the skin.

How it works

Encourages the skin to renew itself and helps promote collagen and elastin production, while simultaneously conditioning to reveal a smooth, even complexion.

How to use

Use in the PM, after cleansing. Apply a few pumps of the serum across your face and lightly massage it into the skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow to absorb and follow with your moisturiser, if preferred. Use sun protection during the day.

Initially, we recommend using Retinoid 3 twice a week, gradually building up to 3-4 times per week. If you are currently using an exfoliating acid product, we would recommend you use this and the retinoid on alternate days.

Use as directed. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

With high levels of retinoid to achieve a strong formula without compromising stability, this is a great serum if you’re already using high-strength formulas, or to power up results after an intermediate strength. FAQs

What active percentage of retinoid is in Retinoid 3?

Skin Rocks Retinoid 3 contains 0.21% retinal, plus 0.5% adapinoid.

What’s the difference between Skin Rocks Retinoids 1, 2 and 3 and which one should I buy?

Retinoid 1 is our entry-level serum, Retinoid 2 is intermediate-strength, and Retinoid 3 is our strongest retinoid. Please refer to the individual product pages for details on ingredients.

Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 has been formulated for beginners or those with concerns around sensitivity. This includes those who have not used retinoids previously, or those who have used low-strength retinoids irregularly in the past. Retinoid 1 is suitable for those with sensitive skin, while Retinoids 2 and 3 are not.

Retinoid 2 is formulated for intermediate users, including those who have used low- or mid-strength retinoids without sensitivity and want to level up, and those who have previously used high-strength retinoids and want to maintain results.

People with advanced concerns may also start with Retinoid 2 for faster results, provided they are not sensitive and have completed a patch test.

Retinoid 3 is formulated for advanced users, including those who regularly use high-strength retinoids without sensitivity and wish to maintain results, and those using mid-strength retinoids without sensitivity who want to level up their results.

You should not use a retinoid if you have experienced previous vitamin A irritation. You should always patch test before using a new product.

How do I know when to move on to a higher-strength Retinoid?

Please wait at least 4 weeks for your skin to acclimatise to any product. We recommend using our Retinoid products for at least 12 weeks, i.e., finishing the bottle, before moving on to a higher strength.

What is Adapinoid®?

Adapinoid® – appearing on the ingredients list as oleyl adapalenate – is a retinoid used in cosmetic skincare products. It is a precursor to adapalene – the prescription-only retinoid used in acne treatments, e.g., Differin – meaning that Adapinoid® transforms to adapalene once on the skin. Adapinoid® is part of the retinoid family and works in a similar way to other retinoids in that it binds retinoid receptors: increasing skin cell turnover and targeting fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, breakouts and dullness.

Should I still use The Hyperpigmentation Serum if I am using Retinoid 3?

Yes. The Hyperpigmentation Serum specifically targets areas of uneven pigmentation and pairs perfectly with our Retinoid Serums. If hyperpigmentation is a concern of yours, we recommend using both serums. We recommend applying The Hyperpigmentation Serum daily in the AM and/or PM, and the retinoids 3-4 times a week in the PM. If using both serums in the PM, apply The Hyperpigmentation Serum first, followed by your retinoid.

Are there any shipping restrictions for Retinoids?

Yes, we cannot ship our Retinoids to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
