The Barrier Duo

Yes. The Barrier Duo is particularly helpful for people with compromised or sensitised skin, or those who are prone to sensitivity. As always, we recommend carrying out a patch test prior to introducing any new products to your routine.

Compromised skin (often called sensitised skin) is skin that has a compromised barrier, which is usually characterised by flakiness, dryness, redness and dehydration. This is different to reactive skin (often called sensitive skin), which is skin that is highly prone to irritation and responsive to stress – e.g., certain skin care products or temperature changes. To help compromised skin, you need to replenish the skin’s barrier lipids to help reinforce the skin barrier, whereas reactive skin needs calming and soothing actives. However, the two often overlap.

The Support Mask can be used in one of two ways – as a leave-on mask or as a rinse-off mask.  If using as a leave-on mask, you would use this as the last step of your PM routine, in place of moisturiser. If using as a rinse-off mask, you would use this after cleansing and acid toning, and before any serums.
