How it works

Encourages the skin to renew itself and helps promote collagen and elastin production, while simultaneously conditioning to reveal a smooth, even complexion.

How to use

Use in the PM, after cleansing. Apply a few pumps of the serum across your face and lightly massage it into the skin. Allow to absorb and follow with your moisturiser, if preferred. Use sun protection during the day.

Initially, we recommend using Retinoid 1 twice a week, gradually building up to 3-4 times per week. If you are currently using an exfoliating acid product, we would recommend you use this and the retinoid in alternate routines.

This is a brilliant entry-level serum if you are new to retinoids, have sensitive skin, or if you’ve found other starter retinoids too strong. It’s gentle, highly effective and a great place to start with vitamin A — giving you brighter, smoother, more radiant skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, breakouts and hyperpigmentation.

    How to Refill

    You’ve finished your product and received your Refill—what’s next?

    STEP 1.
    Unscrew the outer glass bottle, remove the lid and then untwist the existing inner Refill from the pump.

    STEP 2.
    Place the empty inner Refill bottle to one side and wash and dry your pump.

    STEP 3.
    Unscrew the lid on your new Refill, placing the lid to one side. Insert and tighten your new Refill bottle onto the clean pump, ensuring this is secure and tight enough that it doesn't move.

    STEP 4.
    Reattach the outer glass bottle.

    STEP 5.
    Wash, dry and recycle the empty inner Refill bottle and new refill cap as appropriate.

    What active percentage of retinoid is in Retinoid 1/2/3?

    Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 contains 0.2% hydroxypinacolone retinoate. Skin Rocks Retinoid 2 contains 0.5% hydroxypinacolone retinoate & 0.05% retinal, meaning that the product contains a total of 0.55% active retinoid. Skin Rocks Retinoid 3 contains 0.21% retinal, plus 0.5% adapinoid.

    What’s the difference between Skin Rocks Retinoids 1, 2 and 3 and which one should I buy?

    Retinoid 1 is our entry-level serum, Retinoid 2 is intermediate-strength, and Retinoid 3 is our strongest retinoid. Please refer to the individual product pages for details on ingredients.

    Skin Rocks Retinoid 1 has been formulated for beginners or those with concerns around sensitivity. This includes those who have not used retinoids previously, or those who have used low-strength retinoids irregularly in the past. Retinoid 1 is suitable for those with sensitive skin, while Retinoids 2 and 3 are not.

    Retinoid 2 is formulated for intermediate users, including those who have used low- or mid-strength retinoids without sensitivity and want to level up, and those who have previously used high-strength retinoids and want to maintain results.

    People with advanced concerns may also start with Retinoid 2 for faster results, provided they are not sensitive and have completed a patch test.

    Retinoid 3 is formulated for advanced users, including those who regularly use high-strength retinoids without sensitivity and wish to maintain results, and those using mid-strength retinoids without sensitivity who want to level up their results.

    You should not use a retinoid if you have experienced previous vitamin A irritation. You should always patch test before using a new product.

    How do I know when to move on to a higher-strength Retinoid?

    Please wait at least 4 weeks for your skin to acclimatise to any product. We recommend using our Retinoid products for at least 12 weeks before moving on to a higher strength.

    Can I use my refill without the pump?

    No. It is essential to have the pump mechanism screwed onto the refill to dispense the product correctly, not waste any product, and protect the formula.

    Can I use my refill interchangeably with either Retinoid bottle?

    In theory, yes, but we advise you not to do this. For example, if you have purchased a Retinoid 1 and
    want to purchase a Retinoid 2 Refill, we recommend not mixing the packaging to prevent cross-contamination of formulas.

    Are there any shipping restrictions for Retinoids?

    Yes, we cannot ship our Retinoids to Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
