This acid toner is gentle in delivery and powerful in results, working hard to deliver the power of exfoliation with minimal irritation.

Powered by a blend of alpha-hydroxy and polyhydroxy acids (AHAs and PHA) and skin-conditioning ingredients, this next-generation exfoliating toner provides a comfortable exfoliation experience without compromising on results. This sophisticated formula visibly evens skin tone, reduces hyperpigmentation, minimises the appearance of visible pores and refines skin texture, all while respecting your skin barrier. Skin-soothing and hydration-boosting actives work in harmony with the acids to moisturise the skin, together revealing a hydrated, smooth and radiant complexion.

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. If irritation persists, discontinue use.

How it works

Mandelic acid helps to inhibit the expression of tyrosinase – the enzyme that contributes to hyperpigmentation – working with lactic acid and gluconolactone to gently buff away old cells on the surface of the skin. Skin-soothing and hydration-boosting actives ensure skin is simultaneously conditioned and well-hydrated to achieve gentle exfoliation.

How to use

Use in the AM or PM, up to 3 times a week. After cleansing, dampen a cotton pad with the toner and sweep over a clean, dry face (or to specific affected areas), avoiding the eye area. Follow with the rest of your routine.

Is The Gentle Acid suitable for sensitive skin?

The Gentle Acid has been formulated to use variants of AHAs/PHA shown to have good compatibility with a wide range of skin types and tones. You should not be using acid products on any areas of skin that are actively sensitised or if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients used. We would always recommend to patch test before first use and to discontinue use if there are any signs of irritation.

Can I use The Gentle Acid if I have a darker skin tone?

Yes. All Skin Rocks products are tested on a fully inclusive panel (for clinical studies/consumer trials) representing all skin tones.

Can I use The Gentle Acid in the AM?

You can use The Gentle Acid in the AM or PM (not both). However, you may wish to reserve exfoliation for the PM to avoid immediate sun exposure. Remember to always wear sun protection after using acids, as your skin’s sensitivity to sun damage can become heightened.

Can I use multiple Skin Rocks acids in the same routine?

No, you do not need to use multiple acids in a single routine. Please choose the formula best suited to your skin’s needs.

What percentage of exfoliating acid is in The Gentle Acid?

The Gentle Acid contains 9% AHA (5% mandelic and 4% lactic acid) and 1% PHA (gluconolactone).

Can I apply the Skin Rocks Acids with my hands?

No. We recommend applying the product with a cotton pad.

Can I use The Gentle Acid when pregnant/breastfeeding?

Yes – our acid toners are topically applied facial cosmetic products that are safe to use during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. All Skin Rocks products are developed to fully comply with both the UK and EU Cosmetic Regulations and undergo a strict independent safety assessment before they can be sold to consumers.
